Local Activities

If you’re feeling active then you won’t be short of things to do during your stay with us. The following is a selection of some of the activities available nearby:

  • Sightseeing
Visit the historic Bohemian Village of Puhoi 10 minutes south of Warkworth, watch the cheese-makers at work through the glass wall at the Puhoi Art of Cheese Café (www.artofcheese.co.nz). Do a winery tour or take a picnic to one of the beautiful beaches. Drive an hour north to the world famous Matakohe Kauri Museum, www.kauri-museum.com.
  • Anchor Bay at Tawharanui Regional Park (25 minute drive)
  • Wisdome Tours
The best way to find the hidden, historical and beautiful corners of this area is to leave your car in our garage and take a Wisdome Tour. Peter will plan a full or half day tour that is tailor made to suit you and your interests. Your tour can include sailing, diving, fishing, horse riding, wine tasting, arts & crafts, walking, eating... you decide. Or be like some of our guests and leave it all up to Peter while you sit back and relax in the comfortable tour van. Cedarhouse guests who have chosen to discover this district with a Wisdome Tour arrive back here with smiles on their faces having had a fun and informative day out. www.wisdometours.co.nz.

  • Matakana Boutique Cinemas
It would spoil the surprise to describe the interior decor of these three new cinemas in the heart of Matakana Village, the Tivoli, the Paradiso and the Roxy. Good fun, great atmosphere and you won’t find more comfortable theatre seats anywhere - lazy boy recliners in the front row and couches for two in the back! Add a blueberry smoothie and ice cream bar, the Vintry wine bar, licensed bistro and restaurants next door and all this only a three minute drive from Cedarhouse. www.matakanacinemas.co.nz.
