The Warkworth Visitor Information Centre, www.warkworthnz.com, is one of the best information centres in the country with friendly, helpful and informative staff most of whom are volunteers.

A showcase of all local produce every Saturday (8am-1pm summer and 9am-1pm winter), with live music in the summer. Try the yummy blueberry icecream, whitebait fritters, specialty sausages, breads, chutneys, pastries, award-winning Puhoi Cheeses, or popular locally roasted and blended coffee beans.

Just 1 minute drive past Matakana Village, every Saturday morning. Art, craft, plants and entertainment. Great children’s playground, a train to ride, animals to see and feed. Country Kitchen Café makes great coffee and homemade goodies. Very child friendly.
Matakana is becoming increasingly renowned in New Zealand as a community of art and artists, with something to suit every taste. See the Arts and Crafts page for more information.
Warkworth is the gateway to New Zealand’s beautiful Matakana Coast Wine Country - a region of the good things in life! A visit to the Matakana Coast area is a gastronomic delight and a treat for the soul with its fresh locally grown produce, often available at roadside stalls. Limes, olives, avocados, herbs, persimmons, chestnuts, blueberries, fish, oysters, venison, duck, organic fruit & vegetables and free range eggs. The area’s chefs are spoilt for choice!
Matakana Coast is also home to a flourishing wine industry. See the Wineries and Vineyards section of our website for further details of the wineries near Cedarhouse Bed and Breakfast.
